What is the treatment for this biopsy result (super folliculitis) for my husband back
Aug 14, 2014

Dr. Zakia Dimassi Pediatrics
Superficial folliculitis is a fairly common benign condition that occurs due to inflammation of the hair follicles, secondary to trauma, blockage, or infection. It's usually self limited, but since a biopsy was done I can tell that the problem has been there for a while.
Treatment consists of anti bacterial soap, topical antibiotics (like a clindamycin based cream), and oral antibiotics (we 1st try penicillin, but if there's no good response it means the bacteria is resistant to it, in which case we shift to a cephalosporin like Duricef or Zinnat, or oral Clindamycin).
