Dr. Zakia Dimassi Pediatrics
Concor 2.5 contains 2.5 mg bisoprolol, a class of medications for the treatment of hypertension known as beta-1 selective blocker. It's selective in that it only acts on heart muscles by decreasing the rate of contractions, without affecting blood vessel smooth muscles.
Concor 2.5 AM contains in addition amlodipine, another type of anti hypertensive medications that acts both on the heart (slows down contraction) and on the blood vessels (causes them to dilate. Bisoprolol and amlodipine are used in a single pill combination to treat moderate to severe hypertension.
If you're replacing Concor AM with concor just for one dose, it's alright. But not for more than that, otherwise your blood pressure may grow out of control.
