What could be the possible causes of two-month baby having fever?
Jan 15, 2013

Dr. Ivana Dabaj Pediatric Neurology
Fever in children is mostly of viral origin however we should be aware if there is any bacterial infection. Of course there are other causes that depends on the duration of fever and associated symptoms.
We should always look at the associated symptoms (rinorrhea, diarrhea, cough, vomiting,...). You can wait 48 hours (if your baby is still active and is eating) and give antipyretics (fever medications) then if the fever persists I recommend that you get your baby examined.

Fever during the first 3 months of a child is alarming, u should wait at all and baby should be checked by his doctor, and to do blood tests, urine tests, chest xray and most probably Lp and to start antibiotcs pending culture results, dont give him any antipyretics
