What are good measures to take when facing low blood pressure? (e.i. Drinking sugary water, etc..)
Aug 24, 2013

Dr. Rony Shammas Cardiology
How low is the "low blood pressure" you are referring to? Low Blood pressure is not something that requires treatment most of the times. If you are having a problem such as dizziness when you stand up or passing out and if this is felt to be related to the low blood pressure, then treatment may be needed. In these cases, the first step is to stop or reduce any medicines that may lower blood pressure. Next, we recommend to increase your salt intake ( not sugar or sugary drinks) and to remain well hydrated. There are also some specific medicines that can increase blood pressure if this fails.
