The upper joints of my 2 little fingers seem swollen (like a bump) but not red, sometimes they hurt, was given Olfen ointment...but the swelling is still there. what could it be?

Dr. Zakia Dimassi Pediatrics
Topical non-steroidal anti inflammatory creams are not really effective in such cases. You need to have your fingers examined to make sure this is not a rheumatologic disorder (such as osteoarthritis, or rheumatoid arthritis, which can very well present with symptoms such as the ones you are describing). treatment can be with simple oral anti inflammatory drugs (with gastric protection), or more advanced oral treatments; this will be based on the history of your symptoms, physical exam, and specific blood tests.
