My doctor advised to use Xolair to treat my asthma. Possible side effects includes some types of cancer. Should I be worried?

Dr. Zakia Dimassi Pediatrics
The studies that were conducted to delineate the adverse effects of the use of Xolair (omalizumab, a recombinant DNA-derived humanized monoclonal antibody that selectively binds to human immunoglobulin E (IgE), which is the antibody released by the immune system in the process of allergic response), regarding the risk of malignancy in particular, are inconclusive and did not produce reliable data to say that the use of this drug carries a significant risk of malignancy. As a rule of thumb, the use of any therapy weighs in the pros and cons; I strongly suggest that you discuss this with your treating physician.
