My brother is coughing non stop (with green phlegm) and has a fever of 38 degrees. What can I do to alleviate his symptoms?
Apr 10, 2015

Dr. Zakia Dimassi Pediatrics
If your brother's fever remains below 38.5 degrees Celsius then there's no need that he take anything for it. He may however take paracetamol or ibuprofen for pain. Regarding the cough, honey has been proven to alleviate cough. Some sedating cough medications may also be useful in his case (an example is Topléxil). BUT these are only temporary measures (symptomatic treatment) and your brother will have to have a doctor listen to his chest to make sure he does not have a bronchitis or pneumonia, so I urge you to take him to his doctor as soon as possible.
