Dr. Rania Mousa General Medicine
vomit every other day with no other symptoms?for how long she had been like this ?because if the vomit is newly seen it is acute if your daughter is almost vomiting since long time and period this will be chronic and everyone of them has different causes and treatments .
the treatment depends on the diagnose and the cause .
Vomiting can be caused by many things. Most of the time, vomiting in children is caused by gastroenteritis, usually due to a virus infecting the gastrointestinal tract. Gastroentiritis will present with/without fever or mild one and/or diarrhea ,abdominal pain ,...and the treatment will concentrate on conpensating the fluids with oral electrolyte solutions lost due to vomit ,if bacterial will take antibiotics this will be accompanied by fever .
. Saltine crackers, toast, broths, or mild soups (some noodles are OK), mashed potatoes, rice, and breads are all OK.
If there's no vomiting for 24 hours, slowly resume the regular diet. Wait 2-3 days before resuming milk products
other cause may be FOOD ALLERGY , including eggs, milk, peanuts, shellfish, soy, tree nuts, wheat, and fish. Nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain can occur within minutes or hours after ingesting the offending food stop these food in such case.
might have nausea or vomiting include ear infections, seasonal flu, swine flu, acid reflux, and reactions to medication.
-eating too much is also a cause of vomiting in some children ,try to give your child small meals devide his meal to two and give it in two different times .
An important note ,if your child has normal appetite ,normal weight gain ,is normally active ,sleeps well ,his development is good ,then probably nothing to worry about just regulate her feeding habbits ,devide her meals ,stop milk in this period when the problem resolved try to give again after 2-3 days from being well ,if you noted that the vomit returned again after milk intake then the cause will be the cause and she might have lactose intolerance another cause of vomit.
LASTLY ,if your daughter has a flu or a respiratory infection with cough ,she might has been swallowing mucus (usually children can't throw out mucus when coughing they swallow it ),mucus, mucus will go to the intestine or the stomach will be alert and throw uo mucus through vomiting ,your doctor might give her claritin to relieve symptoms of flu virus and thus when flu is gone ,vomit will go .
