Is burning sensation on the right side of the belly button common or possible during early pregnancy?
Sep 4, 2014

Dr. Zakia Dimassi Pediatrics
It could be shingles (herpes zoster infection which causes intense pain and burning over a particular area of the skin supplied by a specific nerve) or a variety of other causes, especially if it does not abate with time and continues to worsen, conditions like acute appendicitis, intermittent (on and off) ovarian torsion (when the ovary twists around itself and thus blood supply is interrupted), or ectopic pregnancy (pregnancy outside the uterus, usually in the fallopian tubes that connect the uterus to the ovaries) need to be ruled out.
You are thus advised to get a full evaluation by a physician to pin down the correct diagnosis.
