Dr. Zakia Dimassi Pediatrics
An antibiotic cannot be prescribed without having listened to the lung sounds and examined the sinuses. The mere fact that there is persistent cough does not provide enough information to decide whether or not an antibiotic should be administered, especially knowing that there is an entity known as "post viral cough" during which you continue to experience an irritative type of cough for a couple of months after having sustained an upper airway viral infection. Not to mention that it is medicolegally unacceptable to prescribe any medication via online consultation. Please visit the doctor's office and get a proper evaluation.
