Hello! I sort off popped something in my knee while playing soccer a while ago. Nowadays when I remain seated for long periods of time and get up I start feeling pain around the area. Any suggestions?

Dr. Falah Bachour Orthopedic Surgery
These are symptoms of patello femoral syndrom which means problems between the patella or anterior bone of the knee (knee cap) and the femur (bone of the thigh). Symptoms are: pain anteriorly and posteriorly to the kne, some blocking and or cracking rarely swelling and instability. Those problems occur most oftenly when someone stops practicing sport for a while and after that he starts again in the same level without any training before. Position seated for a long time, stairs, kneeling process can cause pain in the area. Solutions may be with medical treatment such as local and orally Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NAIDS), application of ice and mainly stretching of quadriceps and hamstring muscles and tendons before doing sports. It may request rest from sport activities and physiotherapy. If the problem persists, I advise you to go to see a specialist to do clinical exam, XRays and MRI of the knee to rule out meniscal problems or rarely cruciate ligaments problems or bone problems.
