I am about to deliver in 2 months & have a Persian Cat at home that is never outside except for the Vet visits. I will groom the cat before delivery but is it safe to keep him when my baby is born?

it depends if you have immunity to toxoplasma or not...

It is safer not to let the cat in the house for possible problem of allergy from cat hair also problems of toxoplasmosis.

Since you've had the cat for a while you are already immune to toxoplasmosis. so that's not something you need to worry about.
It's tricky to keep a pet around a newborn, bercause beleive it or not, pets do get jealous.

However you are the one who knows your cat's temperament.
Of course there are things you can do such as:

always cutting the nails (one or twice per week)
Putting the cat in a closed room at night (such as the kitchen or the balcony if it has glass walls)

if you feel the need to, there is a procedure to declaw cats. which basically means that you remove the claws of the cat fully. it's a painful operation and can make your cat a little less trustworthy, but the cat would be more secure in the house.

in regards of health issues there is nothing you need to worry about with your baby since you passed on your immunity to them
